Sacred Heart High School went to Regina on April 12-13th to compete at the 20th annual Provincial Skills Competition. The venue was held at Evraz Place. Students had the opportunity to compete in various trade and technology areas against other students in High School from across the province. The competition allowed students to showcase the talents that they have learnt at Sacred Heart High School. Sacred Heart took 8 competitors in 5 competition areas. Competitors from Sacred Heart included: Olga Zotova for Pastry and Confectionery; Drake Myrowich for Cooking; Matthew Cochrane for Carpentry; Sarah Martynuik, Anastasiya Fedchenko, Samantha Woolridge and Grayson Vachon for TV Video Production; and Kelsey Valuck for Welding.
This was Olga’s second time competing at the competition. This year she came in knowing what to expect and she cruised through the competition with some very impressive baking skills. Olga won the Silver medal in the competition.
Drake Myrowich was new to this competition as he is only in grade 10. Once he was competing he settled right in and tackled the task at hand. Drake came out winning the Bronze medal.
“I would like to congratulate the entire Saints Skills Team for all the time they put in preparing for the competition. They did an excellent job representing their school and gave it their all at the competition. Many of the competitors are only in grade 10 or 11, so it will be exciting to see what they can do in the years ahead” says coordinator Curtis Moen.
